All three buildings are connected by a 1700 sq ft deck. The layout of the buildings foster a unique atmosphere for group meshing.

About Us

LRCC began as a distant and faint dream and vision. “The Ten Acres” was a wooded lot, separate from the rest of the Tucker family’s land. It was used for hunting and exploring. Owned eventually by Nathan Tucker, the property was seen as a possibility for ministry. Many prayers offered on the property requested that God bless and use it.

In 2001, Nathan had constructed a cabin, essentially for his own use. Pastoring in Texas, it gave him and his family a place to stay when they would return “home”. Quickly he realized that the cabin would sit empty most of the time, so he opened it up for pastors to use as a free retreat. He raised some capital to pay for the venture from the support of generous donors.

As the years progressed, the cabin was staying booked more and more. Groups were even staying, using the cabin as headquarters and tent camping all around. An extended vision was adopted, for further facilities. In 2006, the two-room dormitory building and the conference center were ready for use. Groups commented on the beautiful construction and materials. The new facilities were quickly put to use.

Having been administrated from Texas, LRCC was quickly outgrowing that arrangement. In August of 2007, Nathan’s sister and brother-in-law, Mitch and Debbie Verdell, together with their family, moved from their successful youth ministry position of ten years in Augusta, GA, to develop the ministries of LRCC. The goal was to further reach out to the surrounding areas through programming and facility availability.

A Board of Directors was established and LRCC began to see the benefits of an on-site director. The properties were generously donated to the now incorporated LRCC. So we are completely owned by and exist as a non-profit, 501C3 organization, governed by an actively involved Board of Directors. Appeals were made for support to come from individuals, businesses, and churches who believe in our mission so that the weight of the ongoing costs of the ministry not rest solely on the guests.

In 2008, LRCC had it’s first in-house event, Spring Breakaway, for 6-12 graders. A deck was donated (material and labor) and installed, extending the functionality of the facilities extensively. Also in the summer of 2008, Liberty Kids Daze was held for 4-6 grade, and Walk Wisely was held for 7-12 grade. Guests increased and support continued to keep us in the black.

2009 was a busy year! A spring event was held for high school girls, For Girls Only. Three summer events were held. Liberty Kids Daze (3-5 grade), Liberty Kids Daze Day Camp (K-2 grade), and Liberty Journey (6-8 grade). Each event is held and developed to meet discipleship needs of area students. Scholarships are raised and made available as needed. Volunteers help us staff the camps and keep the costs more doable for families. Much attention is given to providing God’s Word in a real and applicable way, providing fun and safe interaction, and modeling Christ to all who attend. Also in 2009, an eight element Challenge Course was donated and installed, broadening the experience of visiting LRCC, and expanding the teaching capabilities of activity times.

In 2010, a long dreamed of goal was met. A camp was available to all levels of school-age students! Liberty Kids Daze Day Camp (K-2), Liberty Kids Daze (3-5), Liberty Journey (6-8), and for the first time, Liberty Quest (9-12) were all held! It was an exciting summer! Seeds were sown, watered and cultivated. Growth was witnessed. A harvest was realized. Also in 2010, a lake was dug by the donation of machine and man hours. During the winter of 2010-2011, we expect nature to fill it up!

As we move into a new decade of this next century, we at LRCC are ever expectant of what God will do! We can’t wait to meet those that he sends our way to minister to and with! He is at work in the backwoods of rural Northwest Tennessee, and we are privileged to be invited to join Him in His work! There is always room for more laborers.
